John A. Shapiro, MD

Dr. John Shapiro received his undergraduate degree from The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, were he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society. His Medical Degree is from The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine (1979). He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and his Fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (1979 -1984). He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine. Dr. Shapiro was recertified in Critical Care Medicine in 2000 and 2010. Dr. Shapiro is an active staff member of the Medical Staff at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center and The St. Joseph's Medical Center. At the Reading Hospital, he is Chief, Section of Pulmonary Medicine and Medical Director of the Critical Care Unit. He is also on the Consulting Staff at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Reading, PA.

Dr. Shapiro is a Member of the American Thoracic Society, The Berks County Medical Society, Pennsylvania Medical Society and the American Medical Association.
